Anastasia Allen is a devoted single mother of four children residing in Southwest Little Rock who has demonstrated resilience and determination in overcoming significant life challenges. Enrolled in HopeHub since 2022, Anastasia faced financial hardship, housing transitions, and the pressures of providing stability for her children as the sole provider in her household.
Before gaining employment, Anastasia encountered multiple barriers, including limited financial resources, the stress of relocating to a new apartment, and the inability to provide adequate furniture for her children.
During the holiday season and into the new year, these challenges intensified. Anastasia expressed deep concern that her younger children were sleeping on a mattress on the floor and shared that the condition of the furniture she previously owned was not suitable for moving into her new home.
She stated, “I just want to do better for my children and bring the spirit back into our home.”
Through the coordinated efforts of DWS-TANF–supported services and the 100 Families initiative, Anastasia received comprehensive case management and supportive services designed to reduce barriers to employment and promote family stability. After reaching out on a Monday requesting assistance, a referral was submitted through CarePortal for bunk beds and mattresses.
Within two days, Immanuel Baptist Church fulfilled the request, providing essential furniture for her children. This timely intervention had an immediate and meaningful impact. With safe and appropriate sleeping arrangements in place, Anastasia reported a noticeable improvement in household morale and emotional well-being. She shared that she felt relief knowing her children had proper beds and expressed renewed motivation to continue building a stable future for her family.
Today, Anastasia is maintaining full-time employment and independently managing her rent and household expenses. Her continued employment reflects her consistency and commitment to long-term stability.
Anastasia has made significant progress across multiple areas of her HopeHub action plan, including housing, transportation, and food security. She is now thriving in the area of food stability and no longer requires SNAP benefits—an important milestone that reflects her growing self-sufficiency.
Anastasia is proud of the progress she has made and is focused on maintaining employment, strengthening her household, and creating a stable, hopeful environment for her children. Her journey exemplifies the impact of supportive services in empowering families to overcome hardship and move toward lasting self-sufficiency.
