Before coming to Community Rescue Mission, Christopher Mizer's life was unraveling faster than he could have imagined. What began with the loss of a job quickly turned into the loss of housing, leaving him and his six children facing overwhelming uncertainty. As a single father, every setback hit harder-there was no backup plan, no second income, and no room for mistakes.
Without stable employment, securing housing felt impossible. Childcare was another major barrier. How do you attend interviews or work full-time when you have six children depending on you and no reliable place for them to go? Transportation challenges, financial strain, and the emotional toll of trying to stay strong for his children compounded the pressure. Despite his determination, the barriers felt constant and heavy.
When he entered Community Rescue Mission, he was determined to rebuild. Christopher enrolled with the 100 Families Initiative, gaining access to a network of holistic support and existing community resources.
Through perseverance, structure, and support, he began taking steps forward. He secured employment, showing up every day with a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed-not just for himself, but for his children. His commitment and leadership stood out, and over time he advanced into a management position, achieving stability he once feared was out of reach.
One of his greatest victories was securing dependable childcare for all six of his children. This milestone allowed him to fully focus on work while knowing his children were safe, cared for, and thriving. It brought consistency back into their lives and renewed hope for the future.
Today, while still living at Community Rescue Mission, he is doing what once seemed impossible. He is working, managing a team, caring for six children, and doing it all as a single father. His journey is a powerful reminder that job loss and homelessness do not define a person's future.
His story is one of resilience, determination, and a father's unwavering commitment to his children. With the right support and his refusal to give up, he is building a new foundation one step at a time.
