The spirit of service was on full display this week as the Union Christian School Booster Club turned teamwork into community impact. Under the leadership of Athletic Director Whitney Debord, the club donated the entry fees from their first two games of the season to support local families in need through the 100 Families Initiative of Crawford County.
Debord selected two athletes from each sport—both male and female—to represent the Booster Club, ensuring a broad show of unity across the school’s athletic program. With the funds they raised, the students purchased diapers, formula, baby food, and non-perishable food items—critical essentials for families working toward stability.
On Thursday afternoon, the team arrived at the 100 Families office to deliver their donations in person, embodying the power of compassion in action.
Becky Petty, the 100 Families Crawford County Coordinator, welcomed the group, showing them the 100 Families Declaration video and sharing real-time data from the community dashboards that track outcomes in areas like housing, employment, and family stability. The visit became more than a donation drop—it became a learning experience.
Before leaving, one of the seniors led the group in a prayer for the 100 Families Initiative and the families it serves—a gesture that reflected both gratitude and hope.
Moments like this demonstrate the next generation’s capacity for empathy and leadership. Through their generosity, the Union Booster Club reminded everyone that community change begins when people of all ages come together to lend a helping hand.
