On March 18, representatives from Restore Hope and 100 Families of Crawford and Sebastian Counties met with representatives from the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Division of Community Correction (DCC), to strengthen their partnership in support of Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ Recidivism Reduction Pilot Program.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ Recidivism Reduction Pilot Program is a statewide effort designed to reduce recidivism by strengthening the pathway from custody back into the community. The initiative brings together state agencies, workforce and education partners, employers, and community organizations to remove common barriers people face after incarceration, such as lack of identification, housing instability, limited job opportunities, and access to healthcare or recovery support. By coordinating these resources and beginning reentry planning before release, the initiative helps individuals build stability and connect with the support systems needed to successfully transition into long-term employment, community involvement, and independent living.

DCC was represented by community supervision officers, substance abuse program leaders, and community supervision managers, all of whom play a critical role in supporting individuals as they transition back into the community. During the meeting, DCC staff participated in training as Connection Providers within Restore Hope’s collaborative case management system, HopeHub. This training equips DCC staff to communicate and collaborate more effectively with community partners, strengthening coordination of care and improving support for justice-involved individuals as they reenter and stabilize within their communities.

When corrections professionals, community organizations, employers, faith leaders, and service providers work together, individuals returning home are surrounded with opportunities rather than obstacles. Through shared communication, coordinated care, and a commitment to second chances, communities across Arkansas are proving that unity can break cycles of incarceration and create new pathways for restoration, stability, and hope.
