When Kristoni Brabham first connected with the 100 Families Initiative in Greene County, she was facing one of the darkest moments of her life. Her children had been removed from her care due to a combination of parenting challenges, housing insecurity, and a child neglect case.

At the time, she was also carrying a tremendous amount of anger-toward DCFS, her circumstances, and life in general. Despite everything she was experiencing, Kristoni made a decision that would change the course of her family's future: she committed fully to doing whatever it took to bring her children home.

With the support of her 100 Families Family Advocate, Michelle Spann, Kristoni embraced every step of her case plan. Although she struggled with anger toward DCFS and the situation that had led to her children's removal, she chose not to let those emotions keep her from making progress. She completed everything that was asked of her, demonstrating perseverance and determination even when it was difficult.

When Kristoni was provided with stable housing, she didn't just move in-she took the initiative to make it a home. She worked hard to fix it up, creating a safe, welcoming environment where her children could thrive. Rather than waiting for change to happen, she became the driving force behind it.

As she worked toward reunification, Kristoni transformed every area of her life. One of the most remarkable changes was her perspective. The anger and frustration that once defined so much of her daily life gradually gave way to hope, resilience, and purpose. She rediscovered her faith and became actively involved in her church, finding strength and encouragement in the people around her. She also participated in SafeCare, where she continued building the parenting skills and confidence needed to provide a safe, nurturing home for her children.

Kristoni made her physical and mental health a priority by committing to regular workouts at the gym. She maintained steady employment for more than a year, proving her reliability and determination to provide for her family. She also made the intentional decision to remain single so she could focus her time and energy on creating a healthy, stable home for her children.

Today, Kristoni's hard work has paid off in the way that mattered most. She was reunited with her children, marking the beginning of a new chapter for her family. Her journey is a powerful reminder that people are not defined by their worst moments. With determination, accountability, and the right support, lasting change is possible.

Through the collaborative efforts of the 100 Families Initiative and Kristoni's unwavering commitment to her goals, a family has been restored, and a brighter future is being written-one faithful step at a time.
