A Door to a New Beginning: Carrie Low's Journey to Stability

The day Carrie Low finally unlocked the door to her apartment was about more than moving boxes from one place to another. It was the moment uncertainty gave way to hope.

For weeks, that day had felt just out of reach. Although Carrie had secured permanent housing, unexpected maintenance delays postponed her move-in date, leaving her and her children without the stable home they had been waiting for. The setback was frustrating, but it didn't stop her from moving forward.

When Carrie enrolled with the 100 Families Alliance, she was determined to build a better future for her family. Even while waiting for her apartment to be ready, she stayed engaged with her care team and continued working toward stability instead of letting circumstances beyond her control define her journey.

Through the collaboration of the 10:33 Initiative, DWS-TANF, ARcare, and Arkansas Relationship Counseling, Carrie received coordinated support that met her family's immediate needs while preparing them for long-term success. Her care team helped connect her with housing resources, food assistance, and supportive services, ensuring she had the support she needed every step of the way.

When her move-in date finally arrived on January 6, 2025, it marked the beginning of a new chapter. Soon afterward, Carrie was approved to receive beds for her children, turning an empty apartment into a home where her family could rest, heal, and begin creating new memories together.

With the security of stable housing behind her, Carrie continued investing in her future. She engaged in supportive counseling and remained committed to the goals she and her care team had established together. Her consistent communication, follow-through, and willingness to accept support allowed her to make meaningful progress in multiple areas of her life.

Today, Carrie has achieved what once seemed uncertain. She has stable housing, greater food security, a safe and comfortable home for her children, and ongoing support as she works toward employment and long-term self-sufficiency.

Carrie's story is a reminder that transformation doesn't always begin with a dramatic breakthrough.
