When the 100 Families Initiative first connected with Steven, he was navigating one of the most challenging seasons of his life. Although he was employed, Steven was working in a position that offered little fulfillment and limited stability. He knew he wanted more—not just for himself, but for his family. At the same time, his wife was incarcerated, leaving him to manage the emotional and logistical weight of her absence alone. Compounding these challenges, Steven had an open DCFS case, and his twin boys had been placed in foster care.

Despite the obstacles in front of him, Steven never lost sight of what mattered most. From the beginning, he expressed a deep desire to rebuild his life, reunite his family, and create a safe, stable, and supportive environment where his children could thrive.

Through the 100 Families Initiative, Steven partnered closely with his case manager to establish clear, meaningful goals centered on family reunification and long-term stability. Together, they worked step by step to address the barriers standing in his way. Steven developed a professional résumé and explored employment opportunities that aligned with his goals for financial independence and personal growth. He also received encouragement and support as he completed required substance use classes and navigated the court process tied to his DCFS case.

Throughout his participation, Steven remained consistent and motivated, demonstrating accountability and a strong commitment to change. His focus never wavered from building a healthy home where his children could safely return.

Since joining the 100 Families Initiative, Steven has made remarkable progress. In May, his wife returned home, and together they began rebuilding their household with renewed stability and purpose. Steven has maintained steady employment for over a year with the service department at Central Chevrolet in Jonesboro, where he takes pride in his work and continues to grow professionally.

He has remained clean and sober for nearly two years, successfully completing his substance abuse classes through Arisa Health. The most meaningful milestone came on August 30th, when Steven reunified with his twin boys—welcoming them home into the safe, supportive environment he worked tirelessly to create. His DCFS case is now nearing closure, with a final court visit scheduled for November.

Steven’s journey is a powerful example of what becomes possible when determination meets coordinated support. His story reflects the heart of the 100 Families Initiative: walking alongside individuals as they move from crisis to stability, strengthening families, and creating lasting change for future generations.
