When the 100 Families Initiative met Zarion in 2024 for his onboarding appointment, he was living with his brother, having been withdrawn from school and abandoned by his mother.

By collaborating with a Family Liaison Service staff member from the Little Rock School District and the registrar’s office, Zarion received a hearing in August for re-enrollment. Additionally, Zarion’s Pulaski County Juvenile Court Intake Officer contacted Disability Rights Arkansas to advocate for Zarion, ensuring all his rights were exercised. Thanks to their legal team, Zarion was able to return to school sooner.

Zarion required emergency medication for both physical and mental health conditions. At the time of his assessment, he had been without his medication for several months.

The Arkansas Department of Workforce Center and the Arkansas Children’s Hospital provided guidance on the necessary resources for Zarion’s health needs. The hospital's social worker staff assisted with his heart condition and The Centers for Youth and Families are working with to ensure Zarion receives medication for his mental health diagnosis.

Support for Zarion's Brother:

Because 100 Families is dedicated to serving families, Zarion's brother also became a participant. He now has assistance in achieving his dream of obtaining a CDL by connecting him with the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services. Zarion's brother also requested assistance with obtaining health and life insurance and financial management support and was connected with Benefit Solutions, who are ensuring he receives adequate coverage.

The power of collective impact has transformed what seemed like a hopeless situation into one filled with hope and progress.
