Every Child Arkansas is announcing the soft launch of the Foster Friendly Business App, a tool designed to help local businesses support foster families in meaningful, tangible ways. A pilot program is underway in White County with hopes to one day expand across the state.

Already in use in some other states across the country, the app allows foster families to easily find businesses that offer discounts or services tailored to their unique needs—everything from haircuts and family meals to event tickets and automotive services.

With the launch of the app in Arkansas, Every Child Arkansas is calling on local businesses—from small shops to large chains—to sign up and show their support for families who have opened their homes to children in the foster care system.

“So many foster families are doing incredible work, often with very limited resources,” said Director of Outreach Shayne Baker of Every Child Arkansas. “This app makes it easy for businesses to say, ‘We see you, and we want to help.’”

How It Works

Businesses that want to participate sign up in the app and offer a discount or service to foster families. There is no cost to join. Foster families can then browse the app to find “foster friendly” locations near them and show their verification card at checkout.

“It’s a small gesture that makes a big impact,” said Phil Goad, who is on the executive leadership council for Every Child Arkansas. “When a business offers even a simple discount on haircuts or kids’ meals, it feels like our community is standing with us.”

The app was developed by America’s Kids Belong, a national organization focused on improving outcomes for children in foster care. With Every Child Arkansas spearheading the launch in Arkansas, the state joins a growing network of communities working to build stronger, more connected support systems for foster families.

Why It Matters

There are currently thousands of children in foster care across Arkansas, and families who choose to foster often do so at personal and financial sacrifice. By creating a network of community partners, the Foster Friendly Business App helps lighten the load—while giving businesses a direct way to be part of the solution.

“Not everyone is called to foster,” said Baker, “but everyone can do something.”
